Many of us fear them. Most of us just tolerate them. Very few look forward to them.
Job interviews.
Several graduates are currently in a stage of looking for their next career opportunity so this topic is key for them. Here are a few of the things that have brought me interview success:
Research the company. Know their product or service well. Have a well thought out answer for the 'What do you know about our company?" question. (I learned this one through experience.)
Practice your positioning statement. Be ready to clearly and succinctly define who you are professionally and your unique value.
Prepare stories to share that demonstrate key skills. Be able to share them in the format of situation-obstacle-action-result.
For in-person interviews, plan to leave early. Give yourself time in case you can't find the building or have trouble finding parking. Being early will prevent adding unnecessary stress.
Before entering the interview, know that you are the perfect candidate for the job, then walk in with confidence and poise.
Then relax, have fun, and nail that interview!
